Due to the unforeseen circumstances COVID-19 created, student groups didn’t get to have their “Class Trip or Senior Trip” travel experience in 2020. Now that we are months into the pandemic, most features (trip activities & inclusions) of our travel packages here at SAT have thrived and stepped forward with newly improved cleaning and sanitary protocols. This is to make sure that no matter the function, whether it be for a senior class trip, an alumni or reunion get together or a university association…. All our groups are provided with the upmost cleanliness to put your health and safety first.
Most motor coach companies are following extreme sanitization regulations and enhanced cleaning techniques to make sure their trips are clean, safe and comfortable. Select coach companies are now operating under the new “CLEAN Care program”, introduced by a top cleaning company. These specific coach companies are thoroughly cleaning, disinfecting and using CDC approved cleaning agents before and after every single use of their coaches. They make sure to have special focus on disinfecting all high touch points/areas such as entrance handles, parcel rack handrails, all door latches and not to mention all headrests, armrests, seatbelts, seat accessories, all surfaces in the restroom (including door handles), all surfaces within the driver’s area and more. All our coach companies have added these new protocols plus now the complete coach is also sanitized using either foggers or what is called Electrostatic Spray Technology.
In addition to the motor coaches, our hotels are working to make every possible effort to keep guests informed and to provide them with the level of service that is required so that these properties can manage with these unforeseen circumstances. At our select hotels it is a guests’ health and well being that is their top priority. With that in mind, some hotels are keeping on top of all sanitization and cleaning protocols to provide all travelers with the best service possible. So, these properties such as any IHG, Radisson, Comfort Inn, Wydham or for example, our Rosen Inn property in Orlando, are operating with modified or reduced services (i.e. reduction in restaurant service, alternative guest room furnishings and/or amenities). Face coverings are required in all indoor public spaces at some US hotels. Certain properties have increased the frequency of cleaning public areas such as lobbies, elevators, door handles, public bathrooms and all high-touch points in guest rooms. Many hotels are implementing programs from the advice of the CDC, WHO, ECDPC (European Centre for Disease Prevention & Control) and other health authorities all around the world. These programs include deep cleaning with hospital-grade disinfectants and guests can expect to see evolved cleaning procedures throughout the hotel that may include: reduced contact at check-in, touchless transactions, front desk screens, temperature checks, disinfecting of all luggage carts before and after each use, remote check in and check out from your smart phone, sanitizer stations, sanitized key cards, paperless check out, additional deep cleaning of high touch surfaces (as mentioned above), social distancing protocols, guidance to implement “last cleaned” charts, offer virtual and social distancing for all group meeting needs and best cleaning and sanitization practices for pools, fitness centers and lounges. Some hotels are reducing the amount of in-room furnishings/high-touch items, introducing new laundry protocols, use of electrostatic technology (please refer to the motor coach paragraph above – this is only at select hotels) plus the addition of in-room cards with all cleaning procedures listed. Regarding food and beverages, new standards and service approaches are applied to buffets, banquets, room-service and catering as we continue on through this unforeseen pandemic. As IHG says, “Enabling the personal wellbeing of guests and colleagues is key.”
As theme parks, beaches, boardwalks, stores, malls, and public transportation shuttles all reopen we are seeing new implemented protocols as well from all different playing fields. Some theme parks have made the courageous decision to reopen such as Universal’s Theme Parks in Orlando and Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA, whereas some have made the decision to stay closed, such as Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA. Universal has implemented what is called the “Three Ss”, which stands for screening (meaning taking everyone’s temperature before entrance into the parks), sanitization (constantly sanitizing areas and high-touch surfaces in the parks) and spacing (which is providing markings and reminders throughout our resort so guests can socially distance themselves). They ask that all guests use a face mask during their visit (this is not an option at the parks), get their temperature checked upon entrance, wash their hands as often as possible, practice social distancing and keep at least 6 feet between your travel party and others, use the floor markings when present, avoid contact with people who are sick, use hand sanitizer when needed/required, and follow all directions from team members and staffing. All guests should evaluate their risk in determining whether or not to attend the parks. Other safety measures that are in at Universal Orlando are: limiting capacity, following social distancing guidelines throughout all attractions, restaurants, shops and more, increasing their already aggressive cleaning and disinfection procedures and frequently cleaning all high touch surfaces, all team members undergo temperature checks, COVID question screenings, wear face coverings and participate in extensive training on new procedures (see more info here:https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/plan-your-visit/safety-faqs). Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA is committed to the health and safety of all guests. All employees and visitors who come to the park will undergo a temperature screening, be required to wear a face mask of some type that matches the CDC guidelines, maintain the proper social distancing measures, and all staff will be implementing increased and frequent sanitization of all key components of the park. Beaches and boardwalks, for example in Virginia Beach, are enforcing such measures as: maintaining social distancing of at least six feet from any other person (with the exception of family members), maintain 10 feet apart from other participants when playing any recreational sports, and wear a face covering when appropriate distancing is not possible and when entering restaurants, shops and public buildings. Some public transportation, such as the VB Wave, have been suspended for the remainder of 2020. Some malls are trying to ensure the health and safety for all who enter by providing hand-sanitizing stations, touch-free interactions, frequent and intense cleanings, social distancing directions and a new filtered air system that captures airborne viruses. (Please Note: These are just a few examples of what some vendors, venues and events/activities are doing. Please be sure to check back towards your group’s selected trip departure time with each one of your vendors/venues to see what exact health protocols may be during your visit there.)
Without a doubt, we wish to recommend our “campus to campus” all inclusive motor coach service for any of our senior high school trip packages with Student Adventure Travel LLC , alumni or family reunions or college organizations.
As we all adjust to this new normal, we must make sure that every aspect of our trips are being prioritized when it comes to health protocols. Each and every one of our travelers’ well-being and safety is our main goal during these unprecedented times. Here at Student Adventure Travel it is our goal to make sure that as we plan your senior class trip, you are protected in every way possible.
